Speech and Language Therapy at DSCM
Julie provides a range of services to Down Syndrome Centre Midlands including 1:1 speech and language assessment and therapy sessions, a range of early communication and language development groups, specialist groups for older children and interventions as part of summer camps. Julie also runs an innovative group based on the Lego therapy approach at the centre. The group is extremely popular and works on a vast range of language and social skills concurrently.
Julie graduated with a Masters degree in speech and language therapy from Newcastle University in 2011. Since then she has worked across various sectors including children’s centres, schools, nurseries, health centres, special schools, child development centres and community clinics across the UK and Ireland. She prides herself on delivering high quality, fun interventions and developing positive relationships with families and professionals. Julie specialises in early language, speech sound disorders, intellectual disability and autism. Julie is continually aiming to improve her skills and develop her knowledge base. She has attended lots of additional training in specialised areas e.g. Lamh signing, Hanen, ADOS assessment.
